Newburgh
Newburgh, NY is the oldest Historic District in the State of New York outside of New York City. Dating back to the American Revolution, George Washington held his headquarters here. Years of economic growth followed into the Industrial Revolution and beyond. As a result the architectural record of house styles is one of the main draws of this charming city. Beautiful Victorian, Federal and Colonial architecture dot the city against a stunning backdrop of Hudson River Views unsurpassed along the River Valley. It is currently experiencing an upswing after years of economic hardship as creative types and entrepreneurs discover the quality of life and opportunities that abound. Houses are being renovated as fast as they are being sold and new restaurants, museums and businesses are opening one after the next. The proximity to excellent hiking, biking and natural wonders draw more and more crowds every year. The town still has evidence of harder times and may be shocking to some, but it is very safe and crime levels are now low. Come see for yourself!
